Loose Women’s Team |
Dear Loose Woman: The Loose Women's team is a special team. If a player does not have her own team, we offer the opportunity to play flag football, in the IWFFA tournaments, on the Loose Women's teams. Some of the players have never played before, some are O.K. and some are all stars. The team usually is a very mixed group of skills, or if the tournament has enough women for two teams (as in our 14th annual), we will offer a Loose Women's team to play in Beginner Division, and a second team to play in the more competitive divisions. One who joins this team should understand that everyone gets equal time in playing the tournament. It does not matter that you are a hot dog, or a bencher..... these players will play equal amount of time. It is the experience of playing and learning that is more important goal than winning (so please keep this in mind). One needs to understand that with opposing teams having the benefit of practicing for weeks, months or even years as team, the Loose Women's Teams meet the night before tournament at the Meet & Greet, and for the first time, joins the rest of their team. To expect to go all the way (championship), is very difficult and it is better to have fun, than stress. But, we do get very competitive Loose Women, and so be it. The camaraderie is fantastic! once a loose woman, always a loose woman. For the tournament, each loose woman gets a team shirt (that say's: Loose Woman) along with team number, player's are guaranteed to play 3 games, there are many parties and socials and we have a players parade where Loose Women may march with other loose (from past years). We keep a list of all Loose Women on our website for you to gloat and show your friends in years to come. And the huddle...... is the best. Players are kind to one another and it is a good experience, especially for the beginner player. We are happy and proud to offer such a special team. Once you register, we will also send you a play book, which describes how plays are called, describes some basic simple patterns and defines each position. This should help to put each player on the same page during games. Regarding Registration for this tournament: Thank you for wanting to join us for our 15th annual Kelly McGillis Classic International Women’s & Girls Flag Football Championship, which is a 4 day competition with games beginning on Thursday, Feb 9. Loose Women will register prior to the tournament (mail in your registration packs or register over the phone - made available only to Loose Women's teams). Then each Loose Woman must come to and officially register at the Meet & Greet, which will be Wed, Feb 8th from 7 - 10PM. We have a tournament Opening Ceremony from 2:30 - 4:30 and we March (all the loose women get together and dress in a special theme costume) in the tournament's Players Parade which lines up at 5PM. Locations and addresses will be detailed later. One player on the loose will want to be captain, and that's OK. If you are this person, let us know. The Captain will be responsible for attending the rules meeting at Meet & Greet which begins at 8PM, and be in charge of sharing information with rest of team. Officiating Clinic The IWFFA offers free Officiating Training to any member who would like to learn how to officiate. In our sport, finding good, qualified, affordable officials has been very difficult and our games suffer because of it. We feel that the women can officiate just as well (if not better) and should take on this role for the future of women's and girls flag football. Please consider attending the all day, intense training which is Tuesday, Feb 7th and you may find more details about on our web, or contact our office iwffa@iwffa.com In this registration package you will find waiver and release form which needs to be signed and submitted with this sheet along with all registration fees. You should hand the 5 forms linked below. If you would like us to sign you up over the phone, call our office 1-888-GO - IWFFA (888 - 46 - 49332) - in this case, you would have to sign release and waiver forms at Meet & Greet
